The 2017 census itself reported 1,492,276 people on 1,770 km² [7]; 1,493,923 is the Bureau's 2017 figure recounted on the 2023 boundary, which is what the growth rate uses. Urban population counts every town in the tehsil, Khurrianwala included, not Jaranwala city alone.

The 258 rural localities match our own chak list, built from the 2017 census, almost exactly: it has 259 villages.
